Whether you are returning to work after being called to active duty and have concerns regarding your rights under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), or are going through a change in dependent status, or getting divorced, or having some other involvement with civilian law, we can help.
Texas has added a benefit for new Veteran-Owned Businesses. If a new business is wholly owned by honorably discharged veterans, that business can be exempt from the Texas Franchise Tax for the first five years of its existence. More details: comptroller.texas.gov/taxinfo/franchise/veteranOwnedBusiness.html
USERRA protects reservists and guard members who get called up, making sure that the impact on your civilian job is minimized. USERRA applies to all employers, regardless of size, and provides important protections for veterans with disabilities. Because USERRA applies to all employers, it provides disabled veterans with more protection than the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which applies to employers with 15 or more employees. More on USERRA is available at www.dol.gov/vets.
The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) provides protection for members called for active duty who have lost income because of that active duty service. It also protects active duty members if someone brings legal action against you in civilian court, giving you additional response time if your military service affects your ability to respond.

Penny is a veteran and met her husband while serving on active duty in the United States Air Force. Having personally served, she understands the sacrifices that are required of our military personnel. This is why our firm is committed to providing discounts to military personnel. Of course, our military discounts are offered to active duty and reserve personnel. We also offer military discounts to veterans who have been honorably discharged, and military dependents.
